I obtained my Certificate of Clinical Competence in 1983. During the last 33 years of practice, I have worked in private practice medical doctor offices, managed an audiology department in a hospital, and owned/operated a private practice for 23 years. In 2001, I received my doctor's degree in audiology from the University of Florida.
From 1985 through 1999, I maintained my FDA registration as a hearing aid manufacturer. In addition to 33 years of dispensing hearing aids, I have been performing balance evaluation over the last either years, obtaining extensive training from the American Balance Institute in Florida.
We as a nation are getting older and while that might imply wiser, it also means that it is imperative as audiologists that we provide needed hearing and balance services so our patients stay both mentally and physically active.
Recent studies support the old adage, use it or lose it! These studies reveal a much higher rate of both dementia and falls in those with uncorrected hearing loss. My facility is here to offer solutions to hearing and balance loss.
